What Québec reimburses — and what it doesn't

Québec offers two separate tax credits related to home support for people 70 and older. They don't cover the same thing, and it's easy to mix them up. Here's a plain-language summary — with links to the official Revenu Québec pages for the details that apply to your situation.

Tax Credit for Home-Support Services for Seniors

This credit covers service costs — for example housekeeping help, nursing care, or a monitoring service billed as such. It was equal to 39% of eligible expenses for the 2025 tax year; the rate and thresholds are reviewed every year. This credit does not cover buying or renting the device itself.

Independent Living Tax Credit for Seniors

This separate credit instead covers the purchase, lease, or installation of certain eligible equipment meant to help someone 70 or older stay independent in their principal residence (the first $250 of expenses is not eligible). This is the credit that could apply to buying or renting a device like Aura — but the list of eligible equipment is set by regulation, and we can't guarantee a specific product qualifies until Aura's commercial model (purchase, rental, or subscription) is finalized.

This is not tax advice

This page summarizes public Revenu Québec information for reference only; it is not tax advice and does not guarantee that any Aura product or service qualifies for either credit. Eligibility depends on your personal situation (age, income, place of residence) and on how Aura is ultimately offered. Check with Revenu Québec or a professional to confirm your own situation.
